In 2022, the BCSC-Project 858 Media Foundation was created in honor of Andy Bishop, who we lost on September 9, 2021. The name of the foundation comes from Andy himself. In 2019, along with some like minded buddies, he began the San Diego centric sports podcast, Best Coast Sports Connection. They created nearly 100 episodes of entertaining and fun-loving sports dialogue. On December 24, 2020, Andy's passion for Sports, San Diego & Media led him to create a business to monetize his aspirations, which he established as, Project 858 Media LLC.

The purpose of this Tournament is to annually embrace Andy's greatest appreciations in life; Family, Friends, Sports, Laughter and Giving. 100% of Proceeds from this Tournament will go to the BCSC-Project 858 Media Foundation. Through grants, the Foundation supports Christian education, disadvantaged youth in San Diego and youth sports programs Andy was passionate about.

2025 Tournament Review

Under a flawless blue sky and a perfect 77-degree breeze, the 4th annual BCSC-Project 858 Media Foundation golf tournament unfolded at the Coronado Golf Course, nestled along the San Diego Bay. With the iconic Coronado Bridge arching in the distance and the San Diego skyline shimmering beyond the fairways, 90 spirited players and a dozen volunteers came together for a day that was as much about camaraderie as it was about competition.

From tee-off to the final putt, the tournament delivered on its cherished goals: Fun, Family, Friends, Laughter, and Giving. The atmosphere was filled with joy, and the echoes of friendly banter and shared stories filled the course. As Andy always said, “a good time was had by all”—and this year was no exception.

The evening awards dinner added a heartfelt dimension to the day. Carlos Garcia, Vice President of Advancement at Pacific Union College, spoke eloquently about the enduring power of philanthropy. He then introduced Ashley Rodriguez, a scholarship recipient from the Andy Bishop Fund at PUC. Ashley shared how her summer internship—made possible by the fund—reignited her passion to integrate Communication experience into her Theology major and future career. Her story was a moving reminder of the real-world impact of generosity and vision.

This year’s tournament wasn’t just a celebration of sport—it was a celebration of legacy, purpose, and the ripple effect of giving raising over $13,000 for the Foundation. With every swing and every smile, the spirit of Andy Bishop lived on, inspiring all who gathered to keep building a community rooted in joy and generosity.
